This is actually why I refused the feminist label for so long. I had rejected the Steinem career and sex priorities when I was a teen in the 80’s, but in my 20’s in the 90’s I had mellowed and was looking at feminism again. The “but he’s our bastard” — my UK editors did this title. I’m not the type to put “bitchy” in the headline. But it was an apt description of what I thought at the time.
