Things are not heading in the right direction. Currently in the news is a NYT story that incoming Secretary of Energy Rick Perry doesn’t know what the Department of Energy does. That “news,” however, is based on a fake quote to a question never asked from a guy who left before Perry was nominated. http://www.eenews.net/stories/1060046098

The NYT is running political fan fiction as news, a shiny new example of “fake but accurate.” And lest we forget, it was the NYT defending Dan Rather for the fake Texas Air National Guard memos that coined that phrase.
