That’s what happened in Houston for the day without immigrants strike. The Houston Chronicle ran a story that said on a day without immigrants strike, “several” Houston restaurants closed. Largest immigrant city in the US if I recall, and the Chron found “several” closed restaurants. And they were taco restaurants. The person on lunchbreak quote the Chron gathered from outside Torchy’s Tacos was basically ‘bummed but I won’t starve.’

I’ll go out on a limb here, but I don’t think this is the kind of awareness raising the protest organizers had in mind.
