I’ve gotten used to disappointment.

I know where to find The Guardian, et al. — both papers and websites. They come up high in basic internet searches. I can read them whenever I want, which I do want to do on occasion. But usually, I’m tired of those legacy publications. After decades of reading between the lines in weak journalism to piece together stories, I’ve come to Medium looking for new talent and potential. That is, I’m on Medium in part to avoid the noise of big journalism. And then Medium rolls out the red carpet for it.

I’ve found a few of the big articles intriguing, and I accepted that the work I do is philanthropic, so I’ll keep slogging. But the promise that Medium held when I came back about 2 years ago is pretty much gone.
