I think many will want to have compassion for her, will recognize as you do above, that this codependent state is not one she got herself into. They will not want to confront, however, as you do that she seems to have made little effort to get out of it as others have and doesn’t seem to have much regard for whom she might hurt with her behavior. And the complaint of feminists who see this kind of thing as infantilizing women is that they are using the old delicate sensibility of women reputation as an excuse, only this time not to avoid dangerous behavior but to indulge in it.
