I think both petty revenge and backlash play more than most care to admit. And the petty revenge isn’t just against men. Women often talk of woman on woman injury, in which powerful women jealously guard their success and/or require the same hardships for young women. “I did X without [a mentor, roll model, tax breaks, advanced degree, long maternity leave…] and you have to do it too.” Dirty little secret of family friendly business policies, they are often killed by women in a C-suite.
