Happily Medium seems to be listening to its users. I posted this a week ago. I saw similar complaints and not just by the recommend or responders. Yesterday, my app updated and there is now an “updates from authors” option at the front of my publications. I’ve not had time to explore it yet, but a quick scroll suggests that they set up an authors I follow as a publication. Excellent.
